Generally, I'm pretty open with your character 4th walling her real life equivalent, though there are topics I ask you to refrain unless we plotted before hand, those will be added a (⨯) at the end of the sentence. If you're unsure, please don't hesitate to message me!
I tried my best to sort information based on tiers. Citations are linked in the replies.
CONTENT WARNING: Poverty, human death, animal death (warned and required highlighted to be viewed)
MISC NOTE In some of the sources or old footage, he might be listed as 5 years old in 1988 instead of 4, this is because of the old system where a horse is added 1 year in their age. I list his age by his birth year instead of the old registry system.

- He is considered one of the last Showa-era horses in terms of Classic Year categorization, which is when a horse reaches 3 years old.
- Him, Oguri Cap and their rivalry basically destroyed the perception that gray coat horses aren't good runners.
- It's implied he's not only the prototype for Umamusume Tamamo Cross but also for the protagonist of the manga Midori no Makiba O.
- He competed in the 1988 Japan Cup and came second after Pay the Butler (USA), though he was the number 1 favorite amongst the Japanese, viewed as the strongest horse of the time.
- His final race was during the Arima Kinen which falls during 25th December 1988, he came second to Oguri Cap and retired afterwards.
- For characters from the 80s-90s there exists a plushie of him by now-defunct company Avanti. He was one of the earliest horses to get the plushie treatment.

TIER 4
Your character is a Tamamo Cross fan or a diehard keiba otaku.
- His pre-debut name was Nishikino Cross, as he was one of the horses born in the Nishikino Ranch that went bankrupt. (⨯)
- His name was changed to Tamamo Cross after being bought by the ranch owner's friend who owns Tamamo Ltd. They tried saving the ranch by having Tamamo compete, but by the time he was getting enough prize money, it went bankrupt. (⨯)
- Tamamo comes from Takamatsu Castle's nickname which is located in his owner's hometown
- He was said to be meek and skittish as a foal, and his naturally small body was described as "mare-like". This, his modest pedigree and gray coat are often cited the reason why many people doubted his potential.
- The reason why it's believed his pedigree is modest is because his father, CB Cross, was already an accomplished racehorse with some graded wins under his belt and considered fairly strong as far as gray coats go. There's a popular belief that if a horse is strong, the talents skip a generation and is pass onto the grandchild.
- His owner is part of the Hanshin Owner's Association.
- There were telephone card featuring photos of him, and (in)famously, some of them includes him mating and his peepee. (I am so sorry you had to read this.) (⨯)
- It's said that after the Arima Kinen, his owner remarked that he "isn't acting like the usual Tamamo Cross".
- In his retirement, his fights with Mejiro Bright was so terrifying that handlers had to separate them immediately.
- Allegedly the reason for his retirement was so that his owner, who was ill at the time, could see his off springs while Tamamo was still at his peak and fertile.
- His children includes Kanetsu Cross, My Sole Sound, Win Generale, Tamamo Support
- His bloodline is slowly fading as of 2026, he shares this fate with the Heisei Big Three. (⨯)
- One of his successors finally won a G1, Naran Huleg, active in 2018-2023. He won the 2022 Takamatsunomiya Kinen. As of 2026, he is retired and on stud duty in the Versailles Farm.
